ELIGIBILITY, QUALIFICATION

Q: How do I qualify for the Cascade 1200?

A: In order to qualify for entry in the Cascade 1200 you must have completed one of the following:
1. An Audax Club Parisien (ACP) or Randonneurs Mondiaux (RM) sanctioned 1000km or 1200km brevet in 2006, 2007, or 2008.
2. ACP brevets of 200, 300, 400 and 600 km in 2007 or 2008.
3. ACP sanctioned brevets of 200, 300, and 400 km in 2008 AND organizer approval.

You will be required to provide the location, date and brevet certification number (if available) for the qualifying brevets on your entry form.

Q: I'm planning to qualify with 2008 brevets. When can I apply?

A: You can apply any time. Your application will be provisionally accepted pending qualification.

Q: How much is the ride?

A: The ride expense is $275/person. Payments may be made by:
  • Checks drawn on U.S. banks.
  • Money orders or bank drafts in US$
  • PayPal via treasurer at seattlerandonneur.org
Checks, money orders, and bank drafts should be made payable to Seattle International Randonneurs.

Q: I want to ride only with another rider, how will that work?

A: On the Registration form you can add the names of the riders that you want to ride with. Your names will be in the lottery and chosen together, that is, you will all get in or will not.

Q: Is there a cancellation policy?

A: Yes.
100% refund up to March 15.
50% refund up to May 1.
No refund thereafter.
No refund for no shows.

Q: What's included?

A: Included are overnight accommodations including showers for 3 nights, a t-shirt, a finishers pin, full food support at the 3 overnights, full food support at the last control of the day (Northwoods, Mattawa, Malott), full food support at Farmer, pizza and beverages at the finish, and a breakfast Wednesday morning.

Q: Is there a limit on the number of riders who will be allowed to start the event?

A: Yes, because of the limited services at some of the over night controls and permit limitations, we intend to limit participation to 74 riders for the 1200km and 26 riders for the 1000km/200km. We will hold several slots open for volunteers on prior Cascade 1200s and for riders from outside North America. These slots will be made available to all riders March 1st if not used by then.

Q: How will participants be selected?

A: Participation will be secured on a first come first served basis (subject to the reserved slots described above). If there are more than 25 people on the wait list we may have a lottery to determine participants’ selection.

Q: Why a lottery?

A: A lottery is, in our opinion, the fairest way of selecting riders.

Q: When will the lottery be held?

A: We will hold a lottery on March 30, 2008.

Q: When will I know if I have been selected?

A: A list of names of registered riders will be maintained at http://www.cascade1200.com/C1200RegistrationList.htm. Check there to confirm that your application has been received. Final selection may be by lottery as stated above.

Q: Is there a waitlist? How does it work?

A: There is no waitlist this year.
